Inter Miami registered a huge victory over Toronto FC in the Leagues Cup despite the absence of Lionel Messi due to injury. The Round-of-32 clash between Miami and Toronto featured seven goals and a red card.

The hosts put themselves in a strong position right from the start, with credit going to Matías Rojas, who has impressed throughout the tournament and scored a quick goal in the opening three minutes.

Diego Gómez, who had just returned from the Paris Olympics, added to the lead with a goal from the edge of the box. Despite early goals from Tata Martino’s side, Toronto put up a tough fight against Miami. With this win Inter Miami have advanced to the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup.

ST: Luis Suarez – 7.5/10 – Played a leadership role in Messi’s absence and helped Miami take the lead by scoring a goal in the 20th minute.

LW: Diego Gomez – 8/10 – Gomez scored stunning goal from distance and was looking pro active during the game.
