Gabon faces Mozambique in a Group F match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, held at Stade Adrar in Agadir on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Gabon, led by veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has not started well, as Mozambique takes the lead in the 37th minute.

Faisal Bangal scores with a close-range finish, putting the Mambas ahead. Five minutes later, in the 42nd minute, the Mambas double their lead from the penalty spot, with Geny Catamo converting after Gabon centre-back Bruno Ecuele Manga was booked for a rough tackle in the danger area.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang keeps Gabon’s hopes alive, scoring his first AFCON goal since Gabon hosted the tournament in 2017. However, in the 52nd minute of the second half, Mozambique extends the lead to 3-1 as Diogo Calila nets his first-ever goal for the Mambas. Gabon now teeters on the verge of elimination unless they produce a miracle comeback.

As fans hoped for a miracle from Gabon, defender Alex Moucketou-Moussounda pulled one back in the 76th minute, making the scoreline 3-2 to Mozambique. However, Gabon couldn’t equalize and suffered a loss in one of the most thrilling games of the tournament.
